Why mainspringed

What guides how we work

We are a small workshop rather than a chain counter. That shapes everything from the time we spend on each piece to the way we communicate with the people who bring them in.

Honest condition notes

Every piece leaves with a plain written account of what was found and what was done — no jargon, no vague assurances.

Careful, unhurried work

Restoration and servicing cannot be rushed. We take on what we have time to do well, and we do not overpromise on timelines.

Reversible restoration approach

On vintage and inherited pieces, nothing irreversible is done without prior discussion. Original parts are returned, not discarded.

Open communication

We keep you informed as work progresses. If something unexpected comes up, we discuss it before proceeding — always.

Transparent pricing

Our service prices are posted clearly. For restoration work, we provide a written estimate before any work begins — no surprises at collection.

Local workshop, personal service

Based in Hua Hin, we serve the local community directly. Drop in, speak with the watchmaker in person, and leave knowing your piece is in considered hands.

Common questions

Things people usually ask

How long does a mechanical service take?
A standard mechanical health check and service typically takes two to three weeks, depending on the current workload. If parts need to be sourced, it can take a little longer. We will give you a realistic estimate when you bring the watch in.
Do you work on all brands of mechanical watches?
We work on most mechanical movements — Swiss lever, pin-set pocket watches, automatic movements, and many Asian-made calibres. If you are unsure whether we can help with your particular piece, bring it by and we will have a look.
What does the heirloom restoration involve exactly?
Restoration is carried out in stages that you agree to in advance. We start with an assessment and written estimate. From there, work proceeds as discussed — case refinishing, movement service, dial and hand review, and where necessary the careful sourcing of period-correct parts. Nothing is done without your knowledge. Original components are returned to you.
Can I drop in without an appointment?
Yes. The workshop is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 to 18:00. Walk-ins are welcome for initial consultations and drop-offs. If you prefer to arrange a time in advance, you are welcome to call or send a message.
Is the Care & Protection Visit suitable for quartz watches?
Yes, it is the most common use of that service. Battery change, gasket renewal, and a water-resistance check are all particularly relevant for everyday quartz watches. It is a straightforward visit with a clear written summary on completion.
How is my watch kept safe while in the workshop?
Each piece that enters the workshop receives a written intake record with a description of its condition at the time of drop-off. Watches are stored securely when not being worked on. You receive a copy of the intake record when you leave the piece with us.
